Polycarbonate Conservatory Roofs

Polycarbonate is a popular alternative to glass and is available in a variety of colours and specifications.

The choice of polycarbonate conservatory roofs may vary depending on the colour of the conservatory side frames or the light transmission/heat control factors that have to be taken into consideration, but all these options will be discussed with you by our technical experts here at Specialised. In addition to variations in colours, at Specialised we offer Polycarbonate in a range of thicknesses from 25mm through to 35mm. The colour options currently available (please contact us for our latest range) include clear, bronze, opal, bronze/opal, blue/grey and solar reflective Smartpoly.

The variety of polycarbonate options available opens up a whole spectrum of design options to match various frame types and colours including white, brown, rosewood, light oak or bespoke coloured foils, and can be used to reduce glare and minimise solar heat gain.

Bronze/Opal (bronze to face the sun and opal to face inwards) combines the best of both worlds, giving a bright internal appearance, particularly on a dull day, whilst externally working very effectively to reduce solar heat gain. It also provides privacy if the conservatory is overlooked.

Heatguard is an innovative polycarbonate designed to limit heat build-up within the conservatory. It allows light to enter the roof, but by deflecting solar radiation, can reduce solar heat gain through the roof by up to 50% compared to conventional material. Heatguard provides a very cost effective option to reduce heat gain though the roof, often eliminating the need for blinds.

Smartpoly, with it’s integral solar protection, prevents up to 80% of the sun’s solar energy from entering the conservatory through the roof, helping to maintain a comfortable internal temperature. Smartpoly also reduces glare by 80%, further increasing comfort levels in the conservatory.

In winter, most of the heat lost escapes through the roof; with a Smartpoly roof, a large proportion of rising heat is radiated back into the room, helping to maintain comfortable temperatures and heating costs.

With two colour combinations and four colour choices, Smartpoly provides plenty of options to enhance your conservatory experience. Choose standard silver for maximum light penetration or add a blue or green tint or even gold, for maximum heat and glare rejection.
